Last week during the ‘deep freeze’ a young person came through our doors, tears in their eyes….. frozen from the night outside. It was suppose to have been their last… this morning was their treatment day’
“People have been quick to tell me what I need to do in order to be successful, this can feel that they are discounting the nature of my emotions and the barriers I face day-to-day.”
After an hour of sitting, listening and really hearing their experience they said…
“It is difficult to find people who actually listen and make you feel like you have a voice that matters, thank you to those who listen, it can really make a difference.“
Believing we have a voice that matters influences our ability to make change in our lives.
“I really needed this, I needed to feel the freedom to openly express myself, knowing someone was listening to what I had to say.”
When the young person left, we saw the power of listening… they were heading to detox.
