I am delighted to take on the role of Interim Executive Director at The Doorway. For me it feels familiar, as I worked with Marilyn, the staff and Board a few years ago as a consultant. During that project, I learned about The Doorway’s unique and empowering approach to supporting young people to make a transition in their lives. I continue to be impressed by the steadfast commitment displayed by everyone involved with the organization. In my short time here, I have had the privilege of meeting multiple participants and have been amazed at their resiliency, their wisdom, and their ability to overcome barriers as they plan for their futures.
My background spans several decades in the non-profit sector, as a leader for diverse agencies ranging from very large to very small, grass roots organizations. The majority of my consulting practice has been working with senior leaders and boards across various subsectors including addictions, housing, mental health, domestic violence, homelessness and disabilities. Having now completed several interim positions, I can attest to the value of providing stability while allowing for adequate time to plan and prepare for a new leader.
The Board of Directors is working diligently on finding a permanent Executive Director. We are fortunate that Marilyn, while officially retired, will be continuing to do some research in support of the successful approach upon which The Doorway is founded. I would like to sincerely thank everyone for welcoming me into this community and I look forward to connecting with you over the next several months. I can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or 403-269-6658.
