The Doorway exists to provide an opportunity for young people who want to get off the street and to provide invested community members like yourself with an opportunity to support young people getting off the street. Together we offer young people a place to tap into their innate wisdom and make lasting changes in their lives.
It has been a very different spring at The Doorway, facilitating our process over the phone and being away from the space and our volunteers. On June 22, we re-opened our doors for 2 half days a week. Us and our participants are learning and embracing new processes but we have been extremely joyed to be together in our space.
After a comprehensive search process in the midst of the pandemic, the Board of Directors and Transition Committee members are pleased to announce the appointment of Jennifer Stacey as The Doorway’s new Executive Director, effective July 13, 2020.
Jennifer joins our community with a strong background in serving youth in both front line and leadership roles. She brings 20 years of non-profit leadership and comes to us from HIV Community Link where as Director of Operations her responsibilities were organizational operations, system needs, HR, Finance and IT. Her belief in ‘looking for what is right, not what is wrong with a young person’ is our strongest example of our many shared values.
We are confident in having Jennifer join The Doorway as Executive Director and look forward to continuing and increasing our impact supported by Jennifer’s experience and commitment to young people and our community.
Our current Interim Executive Director, Leslie Tamagi, will work alongside Jennifer until the end of July to facilitate a smooth transition. We are grateful to Leslie for her experience, tireless commitment and resourcefulness. Her ability to roll with the punches and trust in our staff has kept us strong throughout COVID-19.
Regarding her new role, Jennifer says, “I am honored to have the opportunity to join The Doorway as Executive Director. Throughout my career I have held a strong passion for supporting youth in our community to reach their goals through self-determination. It’s a privilege to be given the opportunity to lead and work alongside such a dedicated team of individuals where I can contribute to creating sustainable change in the lives of young people in our city. As someone with a strong service orientation, I am a steadfast believer in the power of possibility and am committed to fostering an environment for staff, volunteers and participants to thrive.”
Please join us in welcoming Jennifer to The Doorway.
