Alumni Program

Our AlumniPeer SupportProgram is designed with and for young people, recognizing that they are the experts in their own lives. The program enhances the support available to participants at The Doorway while fostering connection and shared understanding.

Developed in partnership with Habitus Consulting, a leader in peer program research and development, the program builds on insights from international models and feedback from our participants. It encourages sustained engagement throughout the two-year process and has already contributed to higher graduation rates.

We measure our impact by sharing thepowerful stories of the individuals whose lives have been transformed by The Doorway’s programs.
Graduates of The Doorway’s MyPlan program serve as Peer Leaders, bringing their valuable lived experience to support current participants.

These Peer Leaders receive ongoing mentorship and develop leadership skills that prepare them for future employment opportunities.

The program focuses on building healthy friendships, reducing isolation, and creating a safe space for young people to connect and participate in positive activities. By addressing a key gap in Calgary’s homelessness sector, the Alumni Peer Support Program ensures young people at The Doorway have the support they need to thrive.
